POWER TO ARREST - GUARD CARD
BSIS LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- This is mandatory training by BSIS for anyone who wants to be a security guard.
- The Student must be at least 18 years of age.
- The student must not be on probation, parole, or have any criminal actions pending.
- Guard cards which have expired more than 60 days cannot be renewed. You must reapply as a new applicant.

- Security companies must have copies of numbered certificates for every phase completed by their employees.
- California State law calls for an 8-hour Refresher Course to be completed every year a guard card is held. Security companies must have copies of numbered certificates for every year, after the first.
- Be sure to keep your certificates in a safe location, in case they are requested by BSIS, or security employer.

- VALID state ID card or driver license

MODULE 1
Training Time: 8 hours (1 day)
- THIS COURSE IS NEEDED TO APPLY FOR A NEW GUARD CARD.
- MUST BE COMPLETED IN PERSON ONLY. ONLINE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
Course fee: $100.00 ($20.00 is paid as deposit. $80.00 is due the day of the class.)
Application fees (NOT covered by course fee):
- Live Scan fee, approximately $74.00 (Payable at Live Scan site when getting the fingerprints done. Covers DOJ background check fee of $32.00, FBI background check fee of $17.00, and Live Scan service fee.)
- BSIS licensing fee, $55.00 (Payable to BSIS when submitting the application for the guard card)
