A BSIS Firearms Permit authorizes the permit holder to carry an exposed firearm only of the caliber(s) listed on the firearms permit card itself. Permit holders may add caliber(s) to a pre-existing Firearms Permit at any point during the current term of the permit with submission of the Add Caliber form. NOTE: Permit holders may not carry, while on duty, a firearm with a caliber that they have not yet qualified to carry and which does not appear on the face of their Firearms Permit (BPC Sections 7542.12, 7583.37, 7597.3, and CCR Section 632)

Requirements to Add Caliber(s):

• Current and valid BSIS Firearms Permit,
• Completion of at least 8 hours of classroom instruction in the carrying and use of a firearm,
• Completion and passage of the BSIS written firearm exam with a minimum score of 85%,
• Successful completion of range training,
• Submission of completed Add Caliber form with $25.00 fee.

Training Time: 16 hours (2 days)
This class is done when we have the initial BSIS firearms permit course. Only difference is applicant is not required to pass the psychological assessment, and live scan fingerprinting.

Course Fees

• Course: $160.00 (includes tuition, application forms, targets, range safety equipment use, and range fees) *AMMO AND PISTOL RENTALS NOT INCLUDED, YOU MUST HAVE THIS ON DAY 2 OF TRAINING*
• DUE TO CURRENT LAW REGARDING AMMUNITION, BE SURE TO PURCHASE YOUR AMMUNITION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WE DO NOT SELL AMMUNITION.
• You will need a minimum of 100 rounds for each caliber you plan to qualify. At least 150 rounds is recommended.
• Due to potential liability reasons, you must use factory new, brass cased ammo. NO EXCEPTIONS
• Add $20.00 for each firearm rental. Calibers available for rental: 9mm, and .40

RANGE TRAINING MAY BE POSTPONED DUE TO RAIN OR STRONG WIND.

$25.00 - Payable to BSIS when submitting the Add Caliber Application.

BRING WITH YOU TO CLASS

• VALID State ID Card or Driver License.
• VALID BSIS Guard card AND firearms permit.
• Course fee payment.
• BRING ONLY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING ON DAY 1:
  

1. Alien Registration Receipt Card [green card] (INS Form I-151 or AR-3a; issued by INS prior to June 1978).
2. Permanent Resident Card [green card] (INS Form I-551).
3. Certificate of Naturalization (INS Form N-550 or N-570).
4. United States Citizen Identification Card (INS Form I-197).
5. Identification Card for use of Resident Citizen in the United States (INS Form I-179).
6. Certificate of United States Citizenship (INS Form N-560 or N-561).
7. Certificate of Birth abroad issued by the Department of State (Form FS-545 or form DS-1350).
8. Native American Tribal documents.
9. United States Military ID, Geneva Convention Identification card for Active Military Person (unexpired).
10. Report of Separation [military discharge] (Form DD-214).
11. Birth Certificate showing birth in the United States, American Samoa, District of Columbia, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, Swains Island, or United States Virgin Islands.
12. United States Passport Book (unexpired) or United States Passport Card (unexpired).
13. Permit to Re-enter the United States (INS Form I-327).
14. Refugee or parolee documents only if accompanied by INS Form I-151, AR-3a, or I-551.

• FOR DAY 2 ONLY: If you are using your own pistol to qualify: your pistol, a holster for the pistol (holsters having a retention device that is deactivated with your trigger finger are NOT allowed), minimum of 3 magazines (for semi-autos) or 2 speed loaders (for revolvers), mag or speed loader pouch, a sturdy belt, a minimum of 100 rounds factory new brass cased ammunition.
